Invisalign clear aligners are made from a clear plastic material, which makes them practically invisible when worn. This means that you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing that you are undergoing treatment. Invisalign has become increasingly popular in recent years, accounting for 6 per cent and 31 per cent of all teen and adult orthodontic cases respectively.
If you are looking for a discreet way to straighten your teeth, Invisalign clear aligners may be the right treatment for you.
How Does Invisalign Work?

How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign clear aligners are nearly invisible, and no one will know that you are straightening your teeth unless you tell them. The clear teeth aligners are made of smooth, BPA-free plastic that is comfortable to wear. You will wear each set of clear aligners for about two weeks before moving on to the next stage of treatment.
As you progress through the stages of treatment, your teeth will gradually move into their proper positions. Most people complete treatment within 12 to 18 months, but this will vary depending on the individual case. In some cases, Invisalign can be used to treat more complex orthodontic problems than traditional braces.
If you are interested in straightening your teeth but are concerned about the appearance of metal braces, Invisalign may be right for you.
Is Invisalign Right For You?

Invisalign works by using a series of dental aligners that are custom-made for your teeth. These clear aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable plastic that is virtually invisible. They gently and gradually move your teeth into place over time.
Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next set in the series. The number of aligners you need will depend on the severity of your dental issues and how much movement your teeth need to make. In most cases, Invisalign can treat a variety of orthodontic problems, such as mild to moderate crowding, spacing, overbites, underbites and diastemas. It usually takes less time than traditional braces to achieve desired results.
Clear aligners cost will vary depending on the length and complexity of your treatment plan. However, Invisalign is often more affordable than other dental treatments such as braces or veneers. If you are looking for a discreet and effective way to improve your smile, Invisalign may be the right option for you.

The Invisalign Treatment Process
Though most patients still opt for traditional orthodontics, Invisalign® has its advantages. Not only is the treatment invisible but it is also significantly less restrictive as trays can easily be removed for patients to eat or brush their teeth.
If you have ever wondered about what Invisalign treatment is like, the steps are outlined below:
ORTHODONTIC CONSULTATION
The first step is to determine whether Invisalign® is right for you because even though it can be used to solve a number of orthodontic problems, it does not work for all of them.
Another important thing to consider is the patient’s willingness to comply with treatment which requires wearing trays for about 22 hours each day as their strict adherence to this impacts the success of treatment.
TREATMENT PLAN
Having gotten the ‘all-clear’ to proceed with Invisalign treatment, a series of pre-treatment x-rays, photographs and impressions will be taken and sent along with the proposed plan for tooth movement to the Invisalign company.
There, a 3-D rendering of your teeth and computer model will be used to map the movement of your teeth to their desired positions. When the movement specifications have been finalised, the clear aligner trays are fabricated and they are usually sent back to the office in about a month.
WEARING YOUR ALIGNERS
‘Buttons’ of composite resin are often placed on teeth for the aligners to adhere and cause the desired movement. New clear aligner trays are typically given every two weeks and as treatment progresses, each new aligner brings your teeth into straighter positions.
Other than when eating or performing oral hygiene, your aligner should be worn, or the treatment will not go according to plan and successive aligners will not fit correctly.
REFINING YOUR SMILE
After the last set of trays have been worn, you may still require minor adjustments. If your orthodontist deems this as necessary, then Invisalign may send “refinement trays” to be used for a short space of time (at no additional cost).
MAINTAINING YOUR SMILE
As with traditional orthodontics, you will need to wear retainers after treatment is complete to allow the bones of your jaw time to solidify around the new positions of your teeth.
Wearing your retainer during the months immediately following treatment, and for the rest of your life, will ensure that your teeth do not return to their pre-treatment positions and undo all the hard work in creating your perfect smile.
