What Is Invisalign?
Last Monday, one of our long-term patients, Andrea from Belmont, came in to discuss getting her crowded teeth fixed. She wants to straighten her teeth without having to wear braces. So I told her about Invisalign, and she got quite excited and asked me, “Hey Tristen, Invisalign sounds great! How does it work?”
This is such a common question, so I decided to make this short video.
So what is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a clear aligner system that’s used to straighten teeth. It’s an alternative to traditional braces that uses metal brackets and wires to move teeth into the desired position. Invisalign aligners are custom-made for each patient and are made of a clear plastic material that’s virtually invisible when worn. They fit snugly over your teeth and gently shift them into the correct position over time.
One of the great things about Invisalign is that its a more discreet treatment option. Since the aligners are clear, most people won’t even notice that you’re wearing them. This can be a huge relief for people who are self-conscious about their appearance and don’t want to draw attention to their teeth.
Another benefit of Invisalign is that the aligners are removable. This means that you can take them out when you eat or brush your teeth, which can make maintaining good oral hygiene much easier. You won’t have to worry about food getting stuck in your braces or struggling to floss between wires.
So, how does the Invisalign process work?
First, you’ll need a consultation to determine if you’re a good candidate for the treatment. If you are, we will take digital scans of your teeth and use them to create your custom treatment plan. This plan will show how your teeth will move over time and how long the treatment will take.
Once you’ve started the treatment, you’ll wear each set of aligners for about two weeks before switching to the next set. You’ll need to wear the aligners for 20-22 hours per day to ensure that they’re effective. Over time, your teeth will gradually shift into the desired position, and you’ll have a straighter, more beautiful smile.
As you can see, Invisalign is a great option for people like Andrea, who want to straighten their teeth without the appearance of traditional braces. With its clear aligners and removable design, it’s a convenient and effective way to improve your oral health and enhance your smile.
So I hope you’ve found this short video useful, and have gained a better understanding of how Invisalign works.
